Royal Highland Show 2026
The Scottish Agricultural Partnership (SAP) was proud to host the Sustainable Agriculture Tent at the Royal Highland Show (RHS) this year.
This was RHS’s first ever dedicated space for sustainable agriculture and was a resounding success, with a four-day programme of events, talks and workshops, showcasing some of the amazing work that is happening on farms and crofts around the country while bringing together farmers, policymakers, researchers, businesses and young people to explore the future of sustainable agriculture in Scotland
.
A key highlight was the announcement of the winners of the 2026 Food and Farming Sustainability Awards, co-hosted with the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST), recognising the outstanding work being carried out by farmers, crofters and rural businesses across Scotland.
We were delighted to welcome the new Cabinet Secretary for Climate Action and Rural Affairs Gillian Martin MSP to the Sustainable Agriculture Tent to present the awards.
The award winners for 2026 are:
• Farm of the Year: Ardalanish Farm (Isle of Mull)
• Croft of the Year: Hawkhill Croft (Caithness)
• Organic Leader of the Year: West Coast Organics (Isle of Skye)
• Small-scale Producer of the Year: Fieldfare CSA (Aberdeenshire)
• Local Food Outlet of the Year: The Green Bowl (Sutherland)
• Food Producer of the year: Lapwings Community Mill (Aberdeenshire)
• SAP Champion of the Year: Lauriston Farm (Edinburgh)
• RBST Champion of the Year: Euan Dunbar (Perthshire)
RBST’s Scottish Coordinator Alice Lennox said: “We are delighted to recognize these eight award winners for their excellence in food and farming which goes hand in hand with environmental sustainability. The standard of entries was very high, and reflects the increasingly widespread interest in the benefits of farming and managing land with the UK’s native livestock and equine breeds. At a challenging time for farming, the opportunity to minimize input costs and produce fantastic, high quality and distinctive produce with native breeds in sustainable farming systems, is really important.”
SAP was formally launched at last year’s show and the partners have been collaborating for several years on sustainable farming programmes and policy.
